There are many wonderful online resources for elementary teachers. Even if you only have one online computer in your classroom, you can use these sites to enrich your lessons. Here are a few favorites:

Daily Dose of the Web: This site links to fun daily sites like word of the day, grammar, spelling, vocablulary and more! See Upper Elementary Vocabulary Builder.

Judy Leff's Writer's Workshop Resources: This experienced elementary teacher shares how she helps her students learn to write with specific details and powerful images.

CyberGuides K-3 and Grades 4-5: Supplemental online resources for works of literature commonly read in grades k-3. Each unit includes links to age-appropriate sites, a teacher's guide, student activities and an assessment.

Yahoo Kids Study Zone : This search engine is Yahoo for kids. Everything linked here is screened to be appropriate for children. You can drill down and click Langage Arts > Authors to find a favorite author site or use the search field or go directly to Authors.

Kids Click! This search engine was created by librarians for children and teachers. Although there are fewer Web sites listed here, all carefully selected for quality. Also, this search engine lists Reading Levels of Web sites!!

Education World: This online journal has articles on teaching almost anything! Great resource for any subject area.

Kidspiration: Download a free trial of this interactive software. Great for prewriting.

ERIC Digest "Teaching Creative Writing in Elementary School" This article pulls together recent writing research. "Most children enter school with a natural interest in writing, an inherent need to express themselves in words." (Graves, 1983).
